Clambake Kicks Off 100th Anniversary Celebration

BRIDGEPORT—More than 100 agency staff and supporters took part in Visiting Nurse Services (VNS) of Connecticut’s 2009 Clambake fundraiser at Fairfield’s Brooklawn Country Club June 3, celebrating the agency’s 100th anniversary and raising $26,000 to support VNS’ Medically Underserved and Hospice at Home™ programs.   The event was supported by more than 20 sponsors, including Captain’s level support provided by Beardsley, Brown & Bassett,  UBS jointly with its business partners,  Henderson Global Investors, Natixis Funds, MFS Investment Management and PIMCO.   Chairs of the Clambake event were Nancy Hayes from Fairfield, Karen Mercer from Trumbull and Patty Merola of Milford.  Guests at the clambake enjoyed an open bar followed by lobster, prime rib of beef or salmon dinners and a short program recognizing special guests and sponsors.

Litchfield County was well represented at the VNS of Connecticut 9th Annual Clambake fundraiser held June 3 in Fairfield.  Among those attending the event were VNS Torrington Branch Director Nan Merbaum, second from left, along with her husband, Brian, fourth from the left.  The Merbaums are residents of New Hartford.  Also participating was Litchfield resident and director of VNS’ Hospice at Home™ program, Tina Bernacki, far right.  Other attendees pictured are VNS staff Cynthia Teodosio, director of VNS’s Oxford branch, Margery Bonacum and Jeanne Bodyk, agency administrator.

Clambake attendees included VNS supporters, left to right, Pawnee Biggs of Southport and Fairfield residents Lynn Edelstein, Pat Gardner and Beth MacDonald.

Among those attending the VNS of Connecticut 9th Annual Clambake fundraiser were, left to right, Andrea Kovacs of Bridgeport; Deborah Cox of Trumbull and Lisa Nelson of Bridgeport.  Ms. Cox, development director the Town of Trumbull, also presented a proclamation from that community recognizing VNS of Connecticut’s 100th anniversary in 2009.

 

Easton resident and current president of the Junior League of Eastern Fairfield County, Susan Zaveruha, was one of more than 100 VNS of Connecticut supporters who attended the agency’s 9th Annual Clambake fundraiser June 3 in Fairfield.  The event featured vintage photos of agency personnel, as it marked the official kick-off of VNS’ 100th anniversary celebration.
