BRIDGEPORT—Visiting Nurse Services (VNS) of Connecticut raised $26,000 at its annual
Clambake fundraising event which was held on June 6th at the Brooklawn Country Club in Fairfield. Proceeds from the event are used to subsidize home health care
services for individuals and families who may not have adequate health insurance coverage or financial resources for the care they need.
The Clambake, attended by 115 friends of VNS including many community supporters, staff and board members, was co-chaired by Karen Mercer of
Trumbull and Patty Merola of Milford and featured a silent auction and raffle with more than a dozen themed gift baskets contributed by agency staff.
In his welcoming remarks, Bill Sullivan, VNS President & CEO, thanked the co-chairs for their generosity and volunteerism and stated that the annual
Clambake, first held in 2001, "has raised almost $250,000 in funding over the years for the VNS Hospice at Home™ and Medically Underserved programs, which in the past
year provided skilled care and hospice services for over 1,800 vulnerable families who may not have had other home health care options."
